What would a yoga class be like?
I'm 16, and I wanna start some sort of body awareness fitness class, like yoga or something. I ride horses competitively, so that really has me tone, but I'd really like to be even stronger, and aware of my body's movement, if you know what I mean.
So I'm thinking yoga. I'd probably take it here

This is the description
"Learn Yoga asana in the Iyengar style. With an emphasis on precise alignment and the use of Yoga props, you will be taught how to get into and out of the poses safely and accurately. Improve physical health while simultaneously teaching the mind to be calm and focused. Please bring a Yoga sticky mat to class, Yoga props such as blocks and straps are encouraged!"
What is Iyengar style? and yoga asana? Is it probably gonna be a bunch of older people or younger adults?
Also, I'm soo not flexible. Riding my whole life has made all my muscles super tight. Will that be a major problem?

Hi Yohanson,
Yoga can definitely help you become more aware of your body’s movement. Iyengar yoga is a type of yoga invented by yogi B.K.S Iyengar that uses a lot of props (blocks, straps, etc. The use of each prop will be explained in the class). It focuses on alignment through a series of "asanas", which are yoga poses or postures.
You will probably see a variety of people in your class: some younger, some older, some experienced yogis, and some beginners. Flexibility is not a major concern. Yoga can make you more flexible over time, but it’s more important to focus on stability within the pose than pushing yourself to be flexible.
Wear comfortable workout clothing, bring a yoga mat and towel, drink lots of water beforehand and make sure to bring a bottle of water for during the class. If you’re nervous, introduce yourself to the instruction before class starts and mention that this is your first yoga class.
I hope this helps answer some of your questions. Enjoy the class!
Cheers,
Laura
